the new clutch line did the trick!
heres my plug for "Advanced Auto".....
i installed the new line, did a quick bleed
with a inner tube( it really was effortless!)
and fired it up for a drive!
the clutch worked flawlessly...yea!
but, the engine runs good then looses
power and spits and sputters after 100 yards
or so...leaving me limping (or coasting in my case) home.....i only go uphill just in case ; )
i figure the timings off....suggestions?

Almost sounds like crap in the carbs that you are sturing up when running. Check the float bowls. To me does not sound like timeing unless you forgot to hook up the vacume advance?
 
i dont think my vacuum advance is working....dont know much about em, but i think that little hose is stopped up, at the least....ill investigate tomorrow...just happy the clutch is DONE!........z

The vacuum advance has only a slight affect on the engine. You would hardly notice anything between a good one and a bad one. The centrifugal advance does most of the advancing on these engines.

But yes, check your igniton timing.

Unless the plugs are quite new, replace them (and gap them at 0.025"). Old plugs can look "OK", but can misfire.

And look for vacuum leaks between the manifold and the block (fairly common in these engines....spray WD-40 near any potential leak-areas while it's running and see if the engine changes RPM).

Check your fuel filter.

On each of the carbs: remove the tops of the float bowls (3 screws)and the piston damper chamber (3 more screws).

Note: Don't bend the piston-needle as you lift the damper up (carefully) and don't lose the float-pin when you remove the float bowl top.

Blow down into the main jet (the hole the piston-needle came out of) with some carb cleaner (use the little straw-extender). It should blow back out of the float bowl. It will make a mess and blow gas all over, so put a rag over top of the float bowl before you do this. This should clean out the main part of the carb that usually gets gummed up and causes poor running.
Be sure there's no gunk in the bottom of the float bowl too
 
This seems like a clogged filter/failing fuel pump kinda thing to me.
