It wasn't a head gasket or anything cracked.....

I tried to edit my original post but could not.

The suspected head gasket/cracked block issue has been put to bed..... It was a bad spark plug!

I had checked the plugs about two days before the problem and they were fine. I think it was a case of "problem aggregation" as the boil over and misfiring appeared at the same time!

All better now! yee haaaa!
