Sparked right up with 1/3 of choke, idled on it's own after about 10 seconds, oil pressure about 55 - 60.
Once it warmed up I got a little mystery smoke, but I'm 99% certain that is from some oil that leaked out when filling it.
Sounds rough but some more precise timing and a tweak of the carbs should sort that out.
Appropriate it be thanksgiving....
Thanks Drew for bailing me out with the radiator, Doc and Jeff for excellent technical assistance, Jack for kicking my tail every now and again, Tony for being parts supplier.
And ya'll for being in here.

Have a great day everyone.

Woohoo!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Congrats on your running engine. That's what we like to hear. Of course, a little video of a purring Midget would be welcome as well.

Way to go Barry, knew you could do it.

Actually that's preaty darn good. As you say a bit of an adjustment or so and good to go.

That white smoke is just fuel, I think, before the engine is really sucking well. Air filters keep that in side.

Will it idle down, or have you had it warm yet?

Sweet. A little tuning an you'll be ready for the road.

The first statup Jack, I got it warm enough for the thermostat to kick in and it did settle down. There is all new stuff under there and it did idle down to 1100 and felt happy, just a bit rough and it did diesel a little bit, so yep, just a bit of tweaking here and there.

Did notice a small coolant leak from the heater valve, nothing noted elsewhere.
Will be 63 here today so I'll venture round the block after lunch.

Ahh, small coolent leak easy and if it will come down to 1100 on first go you will get it to 800 with some tweeking with ease.

Outstanding, bet that makes wife happy as well. Shoot take her around the block also.

HOO-RAH!! There's something to be thankful for..you've earned that drumstick!!

Way to go BAz!! I did notice a strange sound coming from the car, It sounded like it was saying, "Give car to Lou. He likey likey me very much!"

WOOHOO!!! Great news!

Sounds great. A little tweak here & there and you're set. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Tweaks aside....
I just took it round the (big) block and WOW....
It's a LOT more responsive, quicker, much better feel from the motor through the pedal and smoother than it ever was in my possesion, zero hesitation and a somewhat different and more aggressive (in a friendly way) growl, maybe the air filter, I dunno, but it's got a pair.
So that's how they're supposed to run! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

See, fun little cars arn't they.

Just wait till you get it tweaked. Tell wife to hang on.

On second thought, just give her a nice smooth ride. Maybe let her drive?

Alright!

Hay, the best way is to make her enjoy your pasion.

My wife could always get within two seconds of my times on the track, shhhhhh, I was almost always first in class.

Now that eyes, balance, hearing, and reflexes are 40 years older bet I would be last. Was good while it lasted though.

Wife is kind of excited about Miss Agatha, guess it brings back our childhood. hehe.
