had a similar brake problem in a 1980 Suzuki Jimny that I drove around in Okinawa... drove around using the e-brake to stop while waiting on brake pads. Later, had a rear UJ blow out so I disconnected the drive shaft and put the transfer case into 4-high and drove it around as a front wheel drive until I got a new rear UJ. Interesting thing about the e-brake in that thing was it went to a drum brake attached to the transfer case and it put the brakes on both the front and rear drive shafts... nifty piece of engineering /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
As for the MGB, as many already know, my voltage regulartor was going wonky and letting the voltage swing to some pretty bad extremes. The headlights would go from a shade of orange (dimmer than the typical slightly yellow headlight glow) to an extremely bright white. I swapped it out for one of those '80 Ford Fiesta Bosche alt'naters. Since doing this job and the battery finally recieved full charge, my charging light only glows in one condition: if the heater fan is going and the wipers are going at the same time. I can have all other electricals going and the charge light will be out. The heater blower will make the faintest of glows on the charge light. The wiper motor, however, seems to put a pretty hefty strain on the charging system; especially if it's not raining (no water to lube the wiper blades).
