I am always thoroughly impressed with the quality of the work you do.

I use it as the benchmark for when I work on similar items to see how close mine looks.

Hey Randy,

Always enjoy flipping through your BN4 pics but since you changed to the new domain name it doesn't allow access to my IP address. I have to use one of those anonymous proxy servers to view your site. Is there a setting you can change to allow 124.197.51.190?

Also, what primer do you use on the engine? I got some Bill Hirsch paint but no primer and am wondering if normal etch primer is ok.

Andy.

Hi Andy, thanks for the kind words

I am not aware of any settings, but I'll try to ask my IT guy (he's more absent-minded than I am...).

I actually used a product for the first time, that's billed as an engine primer__withstands heat to 500*F. I made it a pont to apply the primer (2 coats) as thin as I could, and still get full coverage. Same with the topcoat (Moss Motors aerosol). The thicker the paint, the more likely it will blister and flake/peel off. Naturally, an oil-free surface is paramount to success.

What a beauty.

Before I bought my Healey the PO paid a fortune for the engine overhaul.
For some reason they used the wrong colour paint after that.

I hope the moment will come to make my engine as beautyful as yours

What brand/type primer did you try? Did you like it?

I saw the photo of the can on his website for this engine build. You'll have to search through the photos.
You might try the "final push" link first.

Aside from the nice work, I am amazed that engine stand can hold that engine up, especially mounted from the flywheel.

Bill,
That was my first thought as well. It looks like it's floating. Maybe that's just Randy's "magical touch"

The block, in various stages of disassembly/reassembly spent about fourteen (14) months on that stand. This engine wasn't my highest priority at all times, but the guy "just" got his chassis back from the painter, and I'm not one to impede progress.

The weight of my engine actually deformed the engine stand adapter and began to slouch towards the ground. My engine was mouned at the engine mount. I think in retrospect that the engine mount is a bad location to mount these engines on a stand because the block weight is biased to the rear. One has to overtighten the single jam bolt that locks the adapter to the stand. This begins the process of weakening the adapter.

..."Just got chassis back". Do you mean chassis without body on it or just the subchassis? I've heard two thoughts about putting the engine back in the car before the body is attached and then after the body is done.
