Finally!!! Exactly 2 months after buying it off ebay, my XJ-S arrived. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I've now had it for about 18 hours, I did sleep part of that time, but...
As was observed in the ebay pics the tires on it were... Well... Not the very best ... So it has new tires (P4000's... so far, I am happy with them)(when I went to the tire store there was another XJS getting new shoes!!!! Figure the odds on that one!?!?).
It passed Smog at a "Test Only" Station!!!
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif I've been motoring about Sunny San Diego with the top down /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Very little doesn't work... Cruise is broke... Turn Signals are intermittent... Seats are wrong (Manual) But generally, I am most pleased with it. Like I said I played hooky today and /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif drove "top down" all over San Diego sometimes at /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif"aggresive" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif speeds.

I remember in '65 pulling up behind an "E" and saying "Someday..." Well "E"s still are more money than I can spend but I got my Jag! ... And, someday still could come.

Believe it or not... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif Lord Lucas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif is my friend (well... sort of...) we at least kind of understand each other.

He causes problems... I cuss at them. Then I fix them. Later on, he causes some other problem. And on it goes.

Mike,

Exciting news! Congratulations! I remember the feeling of the first Jaguar in the driveway. There's nothing like saying to yourself, "Self, I told me I would have one, and here it is..."

I bought my last, and current, Jaguar from an ebay auction. It was also close to two months after the winning bid when it arrived here on the transport... it supposedly caught fire "seconds" after the auction ended. After a few months of "How do we handle this" emails and phone calls, we negotiated a new "Fire Sale" price and the seller delivered the car. I am glad that your transaction went smoothly and you are able to enjoy your car instantly. I also wanted to tell you how beautiful the car is from the picture in your other post. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. I don't let the gremlins get to me either... it's usually nothing that a mouthful of choice words and a handful of tools (and a wad of cash) can't fix! We knew what we were getting into and didn't let it discourage us. Also, our misfortunes and breakdowns give us all something to discuss in the forum from time to time. Keep us posted on your new ride and again, congratulations. Try to post some pictures of the car in sunny California when you have time. I'd love to see more of it.

Cheers and best wishes,

Brian

Congrats on the new purchase. I'm also a newbie to Jags. Just bought a 93 XJ40. It had sat for a year and the lady said that it wouldn't run. I paid her, hooked up the jumper cables and the engine turned over but wouldn't start. I noticed that the gas gauge didn't move.....5 gallons later it was purring like the kitten it is. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
