So yesterday, as I reported in another thread, I attended the funeral of the daughter of one of my NAMI co-teachers. Also, that morning our 14 year old cat had to be put down.
Then, last night, when I was leaving work, I walked out of my office and locked to door behind me as I always do. At that instant I realized my briefcase, with the keys to the office, was still sitting on my desk in my now locked office. Oh well, at least I had my car keys.
Then, as I'm driving home, I get a panicked call from my wife. She tells me that she went to the store to pick up a few items, and at checkout discovered her wallet, with her ID, cash and credit cards was missing!
We spent the next two hours re-tracing her steps in hopes that we would find it. Finally I called the bowling alley on base since she had been bowling earlier with our son and daughter-in-law. To our relief they had her wallet! Since she couldn't get on the base alone (since her ID card was in her wallet and they do 100% ID checks now), I met her off base and we rode in to the base together.
At the gate, I reached into my wallet to hand the gate guard my military ID. After a couple of seconds, the guard said, "thank you sir, but this is your credit card!" It was the only laugh we'd had all day!
