After 4 months of waaaaaaaaiiiiting. My realitives FINALLY sent me the Title for the CJ5!!!!
So I got the paperwork all filled out and went to the DMV at lunch time. Then I came home, put the plates on it and drove it back to work!
After work was a stop at Wal-Mart for wiperblade inserts and a couple rolls of black duct tape to patch up the top till I get the new one (it's the redneck-mobile)
But I'm floating! I've been waiting for a long time...
Now I gotta get it sorted out. It's just like an LBC.

Congrats...I know you were getting a little ancy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif Nothing like getting to legally drive ur new toy. Got any updated pics for us?

Not yet. it was dark and raining by the time I was done attacking it with duct tape... Big storm this weekend, so It may be a little while till I get some, but I'll have some soon.

Well, I for one want to see photos of this unique vehicle!

And thou shalt, O, Great Pumpkin. ssmmggmmghehehehehe

I wanna see th' road-sign floorboards and th' horn!

I had a '50 Ford Mainliner with a stop sign passenger floor (until my stepdad saw it!)

Oh sorry.. I diden't use the road sign for the floorboards. I used sheet metal for that. the road sign became a new skid plate for the gas tank......
Waddya think I am? Crude?!!! now pass me the next roll of duct tape...

And here's the pics!!!!!
#1 the duct tape job
#2 the roadsign skid plate
#3 side shot to show how well the original 1980 top had held up otherwise

If you were proud of your redneckness you would have used standard silver duct tape and not have painted the road sign. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Funny.. I had that exact discussion with my friends at work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

heh... looks like ya got th' "self-bailing" option there too.

Yup... Ya need it when the top leaks that much...
All in good time.. I'm planning on body panals next summer.

Yeah, I vote for an unpainted stop sign...you could call it your redneck 3rd brake light!

I just about took myself off the road tonight... I went on a beer run a bit ago (enjoying a Boddingtons Pub Ale as we speak) and noticed a burning smell on the way back.
I pulled in the drive, shut everything down, and went looking with the flashlight for the source of all the smoke... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Looks like I need a new headlight switch. Phew!!

OHM'GAWD... Ya parked it too close to the Jag or th TR, di'n't ya!!! They're whisperin' to it when you're in bed asleep....

Ben,
A Jeep top came with one of my parts cars - The PO must have thought it was a spare top for the car. I don't know if it is for a CJ5 or a 7. The bottom of the side curtains is about 48" long. It's white but it in good shape - Yours if you want it.

Chris,
I popped out back and took a measurement. I assume you ment the bottom edge where the sides would snap to the body.
My jeep measures 36" from the door opening around to the back window. My neighbors CJ7 (that just happens to be parked next door) measures 48" in the same spot.
So, I think you have a CJ7 top there...
Won't work for me, but I GREATLY appreciate the offer.
thank you.
