Man (no pun intended) - I've been watching the TT races on Velocity (USA) again this year. I can't help but be impressed by the insanity of this event, and the riders. Speeds of 140 to 180+ mph on the roads. Thru villages. Past buildings. Curbs. Stone walls. Trees. Rain, rain, rain. Not to mention the sidecar crazies!
37 miles per lap make it very difficult to memorise the course, and still they blast thru those curves full on.
The TV captures it really well, but I can only imagine what it is like to be standing 10 feet from a bike going by at 150+ on a public road. Probalby sucks the breath right out of you.

I find myself closing my eyes during stretches of it. Crazy.

If you have the opportunity to watch V-four Victory, a promotional film by Honda, then do so. Shot with an on board camera on the bike of an Irishman, the late, great Joey Dunlop, it is mind boggling but not too scary.

at the rate he passed those other riders they probably felt like getting off and walking
