I remember the Andy Griffin show where there was a guy who ran Emmit's fix it shop. He repaired all sorts of small appliances. Then our society moved to a throw away society and soon it actually cost more to repair than to replace. I remember in the 80's "before internet" taking a VCR in to have it repaired and the cost would have been more than a new one.
Although the actual number of landfills in the U.S. has declined over the past 10 years, the amount of land actually dedicated to our waste is increasing. Perhaps this network of information that allows the "average" person with a few simple tools to practice reduce, reuse and recycle!!!!
Now, we just need to teach them how to Google! LOL
