Happy Thanksgiving to all!
I have located a 1982 Datsun B210 5 speed transmission, A15.
Is the the one I need to convert my BE to a better transmission?
Thanks,
Charlie

It is only $125 so I hope it is the right one.
Good score, I hope it's the right one too!

Hope it works out for you -- that's a really good price. Good luck.

Does the "B" in front of the 210 mean anything to be concerned about? I asked the seller to check for the serial number starting in F and if a 60 is cast in the right side of the bell housing, but have not heard back yet. These were indicators to look for listed on the Rivergate web site.

Hope I'm not the one to jinx your find, but I believe your going to find the b210 is different from the 210 needed for the rivergate trans swap. My understanding is the 210 is a truck trans. not sure about the differences, but they are 2 different trannys. I can't find the phone # for rivergate, but would recommend you call them directly if you can find a number, they have always been helpful to me in the past.

Good luck with your project,
ron

But the Datsun210 did still have a "B310" model designation.

Datsun 210 is a different model than the "B210" and does have a different trans. The 79-82 210 was a very boxy car that kinda resembles the mid 80s corolla. The rivergat site explains the markings on the case required so, if it doesn't have these don't buy it. Took me a while to find mine but wasn't impossible. Don't worry, it'll turn up and for the right price too.

Shop, shop, shop!

They are around, but most of the salvage yards know we're looking for them. The two major yards I have locally asked me right up front "MG?".

Mine came from a guy on Ebay that sold 8 or 10 last year. With shipping it was $450...high at the time...not so much now. HOWEVER, a buddy of mine picked one up at a junk yard less than a year ago for $125.

Don't overlook a whole car which in the end may be the cheapest alternative, if you don't mind the logistics. Same can be said for the late model Midgets with the 3.7/1 tranny.

I haven't heard back from the seller yet. I guess it will be on Monday. I'll let everyone know what the result is from the question. This may help someone else in the future.

If it isn't the right one then tell me and I will buy it. My adapter kit will work with it and I can use it.

The 210 was a sedan, but the tranny needs to have the F designation at the front of the serial no. I always think of the B210 in which I carpooled in many yrs ago, kinda ironic for me isn't it, but I don't know if the 2 cars have the same tranny.

The B210 was last produced in 1978, and was replaced by the Datsun 210 in 1979. Therefore.....if it is an '82 then you have the correct tranny.

The 310 was a FWD car in the US, so the trans will not work. It will be obvious to you if it is FWD or not (engine will be transverse).
