The saga continues - this guy is a complete nut and/or never reads any email

His latest reply to me when I simply wrote - I buy.

Ok , here are my terms of payment.

Since it's an over seas deal i will only end it using eBay purchase protection service. This service offer protection for me (seller) and for you(buyer) also... so in order to have this deal registered with eBay i need the following information from you.

your eBay Id
full name
address
city/state
zipp
country
phone # & shipping address if it's different.

As soon as i have requested information i will start the registration with eBay and you will be contacted by they over email with all steps necesary in order to complete your part of this deal.

Thanks and looking forwoard to receive that info so we can move on.

I have stopped his email but his very last reply

I decided to stop the auction early because there are many unserious buyers who try to hit BUY IT NOW just for fun so i will not be to sell my car through ebay. Anyway the car's still for sale , in case your still interested please send requested information so i can be able to have this deal registered with eBay.

Thanks

Is this guy for real? Why put a 'buy it now' price on the auction if he doesn't want to sell it that way?

I have recently heard about a lot of scam on E bay with the car being alledgedly overseas. He wants to get a cashiers check or other "cash" that he says he needs. The E type probably doesnt exist in Germany and most everything he says about emmissions and US origin cars, etc., doesnt make any sense. Do you think that DHL allows their pilots to ship cars for nothing? You would be lucky if, having got the funds to him, you saw the car in 12 years.

To answer a few of my questions above:

Germany covers medical for everyone there so that was a flat out blatant lie

Car can be registered for road use at a higher tax rate but not so high one would not do it. Another lie.

Regardless it was so obvious it was a scam from day one. I just enjoy getting emails from these poeple to see how far they will go.

You must be located in a bad neighborhood----Keoke--- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I just this second emailed him with questions. I will wait for answers and then inform ebay. Wonder if he will recognize my name on the email. I told him I was the one who informed on him for the XKE, if it the same person.

I see that the listing's been (Surprise)-removed!
Thanks Detective Bowker!

Ok this is completely unreal. This guy is either a complete idiot, only 6 years old or playing a game just to see what he can do on ebay..

This is his reply to the XK 120 which is EXACTLY the same as was for the E Type. Just a different name.

Hello ,

Thank you for your interest in my JAGUAR XK 120 DROPHEAD. I want you to know I cannot accept financing because time is a real issue for me, this is why I am looking for a cash buyer.

The car will be shipped from Germany(Europe) & i will cover shipping fees as my father-in-law work for DHL air service. Will be shipped with DHL Air Service and you will receive it within 12 days tops.DHL will delivery the car at your door.

I'm selling this car in perfect working condition , no damage,no scratches or dents,no hidden defects, and it is as advertised. Is an US model with US specs and will be shipped with CLEAR US TITLE.
Here you have a short desc of my car:

Miles: 62765
Doors: 2 doors or more
Transmission: Manual
Interior: Tan
Engine: 6 - Cyl.
Year: 1953
Warranty: No
VIN Number: 677102
Exterior: Red
pics with the car - https://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/elcujo22/album?.dir=/9882

This car can be yours for only $5,100.00.

Reason for selling : We found out that we have to pay a large amount of money to regist the car here, because it is an US model (which complies with the US emission ) and Europe regulations are different from these ones , so it's more than hard for me to find a buyer here. I hate to sell it at this price but i REALY need this money , my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, and is going thru treatments to help stop it.I am selling so i can put money away to pay for medical bills that are mounting.

If you are still interested please get back to me ASAP and i'll let you know terms of payment for this deal.

Thanks,

Bruce, did you get an email from Ebay regarding any correspondence with this guy? I got one yesterday or this morning, I forget. A basic, 'be careful' generic letter.

German health care is free, insurance doesn't come into it. Nominal charges may apply as here in the UK but these are trivial.

The emissions laws are rather less demanding than American ones of the same period, and I think even now that American laws are more strict.

As for the cost of registering that might well be true, but only by mistake I suspect. Germany is probably like the UK in charging an import duty (10%) on cars imported regardless of their age, and then VAT (value added tax at 17.5%) on top, the German rates would undoubtedly vary but the extra costs could be considerable. For something like a ÂŁ30k Jaguar imported to the UK, this would be nearly 30% more (in the finest traditions of breaucracy they'd charge taxes on their taxes!). It was a big consideration a few years ago when I repatriated my Healey wreck and that was only economically viable because I was able to take advantage of a classic car exemption scheme that now seems to no longer operate. Its the sort of mistake that could easily be made by a legitimate seller, though, I think European prices for LBCs are generally higher than American ones, so the extra cost should be recovereable....

This screams SCAM!

Anytime you email someone, ebay sends these out. Just found a Vette scam. Not sure if it again is the same guy but the auction is now gone. Asked a question to the seller but no reply this time. Not sure anymore where all to look. Too many cars on ebay although certain makes seem to be favored for scams.

It is not even an XK120 (even though it has a proper '120 Grill). The '120s were Roadsters, that one is a convertible. The '120s had side curtains instead of roll up windows. Their interiors were leather, not wood and fabric.

There is a drophead XK 120 also along with the fixed head and roadster. XK140 also came in these versions.
