I didn't have the heart in me to change out
DPO Pedro's failed water pump today. So I
was getting ready to change out the busted
hood latch gizzmo so the hood can stay shut.

Near the busted hood gizzmo I noticed what
appeared to be two pop rivet heads buried under
layers of rough paint. Curiosity got the better
of me. I got out the paint stripper and wire brush.

I found an aluminum plate with a CC number stamped
into it. I also found two round spots of bondo right
below. Could this plate be authentic? The small tag
I found inside the dashboard has a close by CC number
that matches exactly the fake CC# on the driver's door
post.

Do the TR experts believe ANY of these might be my
car's actual CC number? Here's a photo:

actually Dale, those #'s are about right. that year they started @28001 and finished in the 32000's. don't expect those 2 #'s to match. I don't think they ever have. 1 is a body # the one on the door is the Comm. #
The low # explains all the 250 parts. Left over on the shelf stock to use up.
 
My only expertise is in placing my foot in my mouth!

However, the CC28932L is your VIN - places it as a '69 model.

The other number is the body number, which should be "roughly equivalent" (according to Piggot's book, Original TR to the commission (or VIN) number.

In your case, all looks proper.
 
My book cross references that # to a 1925 Ford Model T roadster...at least the roadster part is close!!!
