Is this a tough frame repair

image.jpgThe last 8 inches or so of the frame shows rust through, is this a tough fix?

When a frame is repaired, how involved is the process of removing the body? Let's say the rust was under the driver's door, just as an example. I'm assuming that would be one big job.

Depends on how much needs to be done and where I'd say. A small section on the bottom wouldn't be as involved as a larger section or the top of the frame for example. And also the location on the frameand general accessabilty. The ends as noted aren't under the stress that areas carrying the suspension and the center sections are subject to bridge type loads where they carry weight between two piers, (the suspension and wheels). So short answer, it depends.

In this case, the TR250 body is off the frame already, and appears that the rust through is confined to the rear most section of the frame. I have inspected the rest of the frame and it looks solid. The Tee shirt area is not puffed up, so there does not appear to be rust underneath it and the trailing arms are solid too.

Kayo, Looks like you got lucky, if that's all you found wrong for your location. Easy fix, Good luck.
