I finally resigned myself to the fact the top is going to be up on The B for a few months, with the exception of those rare 40-50 degree days here in the STL area.

Took her out tonight. It's about 35 here or so. Thought 'hmmm, maybe I'll turn on the heater.' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I rather expected a comforting burst of warm air on my legs and instead, got a very rude blast of cold air blowing on me! Yes the car was warm, engine wise.

I do believe I might get a little chilly during the next few months! Where to start? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
Thank you! That will be my first step. That's the same as the thermostat, right? I'm hoping it's that and not the heater core.
 
Ahh, no, the valve isn't the same as the thermostat. I'm learning (and reading!!) Thanks for the link bassman!
 
Okay, maybe I'm an idiot, but by the drawing, yes that does look like the same thing as a thermostat.

No, its not the same as the thermostat. The heater valve is on the right side of the engine above the distributor and has a hose fastened to it and the cable that opens it. The cable comes from the knob you twist to turn the heater on. If your engine is coming up to full temperature, your thermostat is OK. It is located in the front of the engine inside the area where the upper radiator hose fastens.

I'm definitely hoping it is NOT closed. But that will be the FIRST thing I check. Can't get to it before Sunday, wedding tomorrow.

Not ONLY did I find the knobby thing for the fresh air flap, I CLOSED it! Now if my hair wasn't sopping wet, I'd take her back out for another drive to see if that might have solved the problem. I'll take her out and drive her as soon as I can. Cross your fingers it was something that simple!
