Ok, I'll admit I'm not an MG follower, so maybe it's just me but: There is a 1977 MGB (faded rubber bumpers) sitting on a local "Lemon Lot". The car looks "ok" from 10 feet, but the paint (blue) is very faded and badly oxydized in spots. The rubber bumpers are veru old and dry looking. The interior is "fair" but the tops of teh door panels are badly cracked, and the overall interior just seems very worn. In the window is a "For Sale" sign that says: 1977 MGB, Condition: "Good", Asking : $16,000 OBO. Yes, that's right, $16,000 for what looks to be a "fair at best" example. Not sure what he's smoking, but must be good stuff!

Always remember that a sucker is born every minute- he is really looking for that guy!

$16k

<choking back uncontrolable laughter>

Too much Barret Jackson in his diet me thinks...

WOOHOO!!! I need to drag this '64 to a Barrett Jackson event!!

Yup. Suckermobile. I looked at something that matches that description exactly. Horrible cracks in the doors but the guy insisted that was "normal" (ahem). He wanted $9k I think...and that included the rusted parts.

That would be "Rust Free" right????

I think it's the season.....folks been watching too much of the Pickers and American Road Show (or whatever it's called).
To answer your question about dope:

Rest assured, somewhere, multiple personages in multiple jusidictions are doing just that.

Like the MK2 Jag I saw at the ABFM for sale section for $35K.

Hey I have a Triumph Spitfire project I'll let go for just $20k!

Ohhhh, Don't bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me!

Bought one in that condition for $350 not too long ago!

Or maybe I can put my $50 MGBGT up for sale now?

Hey now! Do you have any idea how many man hours it takes to get all that rust where it is?? That degree of ferrous oxide just doesn't happen over night ya know!! And it DEFINITELY doesn't grow on trees!!! A LOT of time and focused effort was required to get that that way!

Hey, this is a retail sale, people have to be paid, rent has to be paid, utilities, cost, after cost, it all adds up. I think this allows the seller to have sufficient wiggle room to sell it at $2000, just think what a fantastic deal the buyer will think he/she got. If you don't ask for more than you want, you will never get!

This one comes complete with crunched fender and more!

Basil, Perhaps you didn't notice the decimal point. It's actually $160.00

In 2001 I went to the MGCC meet in Silverstone. There was a chrome bumper MGB that was professionally restored to the point that it looked like a brand new custom built car (leather interior, custom top, etc etc etc). I think it was around £12,500.
