Is my brake servo working?

A friend of mine who owns a 65 BJ8 drove my 64 BJ8 and he thought that the brake servo was not working. I had it reconditioned by Power Brake Exchange during the restoration. How can I tell if it is working properly? Thanks and have a good day!

john, how do the brakes feel to you? did you drive and try the brakes on your friends car?, his brakes may feel unlike yours simply because his brakes shoes are adjusted tighter/looser then yours, youd be amazzed at how much change in braking the car can be if too tight/too lose, are you having to apply excessive force to brake?, i know if the servo is not working it will be obvious, you wont even have to pressure check each line on the brakes. ive never driven two healeys that had exactly the same feel, the seat position and length of a drivers legs can change the feel from one car to another.
 
Hold your foot on the pedal (with some pressure) as you start the car. When the car starts, you should feel the pedal go down an inch or so.

Yep then turn the engine off and see if you still have a firm brake pedal-- :laugh:
 
OK! I will try that this morning. As far as I could tell they were working fine without much pressure required. I have not been able to drive his car yet but I am working on that. Thanks for the response and have a good day!

Well I finally tried the foot on the brake pedal and starting the car and I could not feel the pedal go down at all when the car started. Is there any other check I should perform? There does not appear to be a stopping problem but all my other cars (LBC) don't have a booster for me to compare. Thanks and have a good day!
