Or is it too early for the constant diet of Xmas music on the radio. It started here on Thanksgiving for heavens sake....

30 days to go.

I got a dose of it coming home Thanksgiving eve... I think it's way too early as well. Two weeks out is borderline acceptable to me.

BAH! HUMBUG!!!

I was thinking starting on the 24th at 11pm and finishing right after lunch on the 25th would do just fine.

30 days of this and I'll be ready for a new jacket, one with wraparound sleeves...

<insert grinch icon here>

And people wonder why I don't have a radio in my car. At least I never get sick of hearing anything! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My family growing up was always a bit strange. Tree up on the 24th, down on the 6th of January (Epiphany). Folks didn't seem to get that the 12 days of Christmas *start* on Christmas day. Even as I've gotten older, that family tradition has stuck. I always thought it made Christmas day more special, not something you're glad to see come so that it will be over.

I generally avoid commercial radio/TV, especially this time of year (election years the avoidance starts much earlier!). We do have to start working Christmas music into our gigs now, though, can't get around it.

"Tis the season to be jolly!!! But another two weeks without the muzak would be fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

The music doesn’t bother me as much as seeing Christmas decor that went up at the beginning of November. I live in SOCAL for crying out loud - seeing Christmas decor go up that early, with 90 degrees on the thermometer is just nuts. We go from Halloween decor to Christmas decor - Thanksgiving gets the short end of the stick - and it's my favorite holiday.

I agree, Cliff. I saw Christmas stuff in the stores this year before Halloween.
To crib a line from an old Tom Lehrer song,
"God rest ye merry merchants, may you make the Yuletide pay."
Jeff

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif I really enjoy the Christmas celebration, BUT, it's way too early. Both the music and the store displays started BEFORE Thanksgiving!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

It is quite literally all about consumerism, jeez, I'm channeling my Granpa's spirit. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

One of our neighbors had their "Holiday" (Christmas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) tree up two weeks ago.

Dec. 24 for the tree sounds just right for me.

I can't stand Christmas music normally myself /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif – but I must the Ebenezer Scrooge in me melts like butter when my little girls ask to put on the Holly channel (Xmas music 24/7) on our XM Radio and start singing along. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

My bil used to go out the night the schools closed for christmas and get a tree that they threw out /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I like older Christmas music, like some of the stuff from Glen Miller, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Billy Holiday, etc. In fact I'm playing some Bing now while we put of our Xmas decor. But any talk of Xmas before the day after Thanksgiving is strictly forbidden in my house!

That's not natural. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

Don't all the pine needles fall out? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

I went into two hardware stores on Friday and got a dose of "Little drummer boy" from both stores. Can't stand the song.

I can't stand this all this xmas music...all the good mix stations here have gone 24/7 xmas music...So I am stuck between classic rock and country for the next month.

Even Twisted sister has done a christmas Album... Twisted Chistmas... supposedly their last album. Weird.
