TR2/3/3A Is it a Purolator or Tecalemit?

During TR3/3A production was there a mix of Purolator and Tecalemit oil filter assemblies? How can one tell the two apart?

Regards, Walter

Has anyone found an original Tecalemit filter head on a TR3/3A? I don't believe the factory used them until during the TR4A run. The SPC doesn't mention anything about Tecalemit filters until TR4A.

However, there were several variations on the Purolator head (hence the note on the Moss page about not fitting TR3 before TS12650E). Those early "bypass" filter heads were still made by Purolator, but looked somewhat different than the later "full flow" filter head. There's a drawing of one of them on the Moss application page (which also lists Tecalemit only for some TR4A).

Another way to tell is if the long bolt through the canister has fine or coarse threads on it. Purolator used coarse, Tecalemit used fine.

Thank you, gentlemen. Much appreciated!
