GT6 Is he really trying to sell a GT6?

So it went for $11,202. What would you say the market for a non-concourse, zero rust, well documented frame off restoration gt6 be? And what the difference between mk1,2 and 3? It seems that everyone selling a mk2 claims that they are the most sought out after and rarest, no one seems to act like mk1s and mk3s are special. Why?

When I bought I wanted a mk2 because of the rotoflex, no pollution stuff do deal with, like the back end and lines better then a mk3, the rear vent, hood vents, high back seats, dash looked cleaner, and from what I understood as well it handled a bit better with the rotoflex back end (not sure that is true).

But then my son really wants a mk1. Why because he likes the older look.

I bought my 1970 GT6+ used in 1975 because....

a. it was available
b. I had the money at the time
c. I always kinda liked the almost extremely busy details of the round-tail body with lights stuck on everywhere!

I bought a 1972 GT6 Mk3 around 1981 because....

a. it was available
b. I had the money at the time
c. I always kinda liked the clean look of the square-tail body

If I could, I'd own a "Mk1" today, because I also really like the look of the early car with the low front bumper.

As for handling, they're all good in their own right, although many folks might be happier with either a camber compensator or a rear swing-spring conversion on a "Mk1"! My two above were both "roto-flex" and were very good handlers indeed, the 1970 also benefitting greatly from Koni shocks. The last of the Mk3s (1973) had the swing-spring already and were still quite good handlers.

It's really all what you like in terms of styling...and any of the three can be upgraded to pretty much whatever you want.
