Is a replica welcome in this forum?

Don't confuse the Westfield XI(11) with the 7 replicas like the Caterham, locost, or others. This is a faithful copy of the Lotus eleven and is only made to accept the Spridget suspension & powertrain. The fully enclosed bodywork makes it impossible to put on wheels over 5" wide and thus defeats the point of engines over about 120hp. There's just no traction......the idea is to create a balanced, driftable, '50's style car for about 1/2 to 1/3 the $'s of a "real' Lotus.

Can't think of a repro-car that I'd rather drive....

The Lola MkI would be a close #2
(don't think they make that one)

Another great replica is the Suffolk SS100 Jaguar replica. <ss100.com> Uses an XJ-6 donor car, and like the Westfield XI, the body parts are interchangeable with the original, the car is a totally faithful replica of a $150K car for about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost. If the Westy goes well I just might build one of those. The ultimate replica would have to be the Ferrari 250 GTO using all Ferrari parts. That one will run you a cool $300K, a bargin since the real thing goes for $2.5 million.

Always preferred the lightweight cars...

If someone gave me a real 275 LM, I'd sell it and buy an eleven.

i'd buy the 275 LM, and would be looking for payback by now - hehhehehehehehehehehehehehe

Actually there is one Ferrari I would own.

The 500 TRC Spider (4 cylinder) & The FIRST to be called "red head"

Can't say much about it other than, it looks nice.
For all I know, it could drive like a fruit cart.

An 11 is pretty much a 7 with a full body. Don't forget that Westfield made faithful 7 replicas until they lost a suit with Caterham.

I really like Westfield 11's. I'm glad they have started making them again. One just sold on E Bay with a crossflow in it. A decent looking car. Most of the ones I have seen had a lot of stress cracks around the front wheel wells.
