Still no power at 6pm EST Sunday. So we've been w/o it for seven days after hurricane Irene. Back to the McDonald's "wireless hot spot".
When you live in a rural area, no electric means no water pump, lights, fans, a/c, internet, telephone, cell, and sump pump.
oy
Without boring you with more pictures of downed trees, rising water, gale force winds, etc. from last weekend, I figured you guys might enjoy another of Irene's triumphs (?).
Want to look through the new "view port" in the side of my generator engine?
Man, talk about frustration. That Generac generator (alternator) ran great for 24 hours after the storm. I can run the whole house on it, with some creative circuit breaker switching. But with the "new and improved ventilation hole", which magically appeared about 10am Tuesday, it doesn't run so well.
I feel lucky the generator shed didn't catch on fire. Note the fuel line just above the new "port". And take a look at the burn marks on the shed floor, around the "inside bits" that landed "outside".
Let's see, here in Connecticut since January: three day blizzard, drought, tornado, earthquake, hurricane. What's next, locusts?
Onward through the fog.

PS - also learned that generator engines need frequent oil fills to run.
