My name is Rick Herron. This is the first time I have posted on a car site. Though I appreciate all automobiles the British cars have always held a fascination for me. It seems that each country creates autos or at least used to that reflected their country's hariatege. I love the designs and the engineering that has resulted in some of the most spectacular road and racing cars. My favorite British cars are many including all Aston Maritns, Jaguars, early Bently, Lotus, Triumphs, Chevron's, Ford GT's, AC's, Jensen Interceptors, and many other makes.

I am an automotive artist licensed with Carroll Shelby and create artwork of Cobras as well as of other marks. It is a pleasure to be involved with the British Car Forum.
 
Rick, welcome to the forum. I hope that you will be a regular contributor. I have seen some of the work on your website, did you use an airbrush on a couple of these? Just curious. I'd like to compare notes with you some time.

I work with acrylic paints on Illustration board hot press for the smoothness. I also use Photoshop and Illustrator to create the Cobra Images. This technique is exactly like airbrushing but without the mess. What media and techniques do you use?

Currently I own a Jeep and a Stealth. I would like to own a British sports car but cannot really afford the ones that I would like to own or do the restoration to bring them back to life properly. I have had the opportunity in earlier years to drive the E type, Lotus Europa and fortunately a 1960s Morgan. Later I worked at a dealer preparing Triumphs and MGs just of the boat, readying them for delivery. I was able to drive often the TR3s through TR6s and all the variants of MGs. My favorite was the TR6. Occasionally there was a Jensen in the showroom or a Lotus. What are your favorites?

I use gouache on 140lb watercolour paper, but I am about to start experimenting with acrylics on canvas. Wish I had been able to drive an E-type, but who knows, maybe some day I will.

It is always good to experiment with different media. Guache is dificult because it dries so quick. The same goes for acrylics so one must always add water or extenders to the paint. If you ever get a chance you should take some courses in Graphic Design and learn about the Photoshop and illustrator.

What I liked about the E type at the time was the dashboard. It had toggle switches instead of buttons. Except for the Shelby GTs I have driven or the Morgan there is nothing in my opinion quite like and E type.

Rick...I just viewed some of your art work...Nice! Wish I had that type of talent!

I have very good friends who love on Mill Run in Springfield and my daughter is in DC maybe our paths will cross some time in the future.

Thanks Racing Girl. Saw the Triumph Spitfire and Ginetta. Both are wonderfull looking. The great thing about British cars is that often one runs across a mak they have never heard of before. I think Great Britain had possibly the greatest number of small and indipendent manufacuturers.
