Good for you, Ian ! We need more 'drivers', to counterbalance all the beautifully restored cars.

I know it's a bit of a hike, but I drove the TR3A that far for VTR in 2000 and 2001; and wasn't sorry I did.

And don't be shy about your car's appearance. My experience is that the cars with patina actually generate more interest anyway ... to the point of crowds gathered around the "barn find" on the trailer with their backs turned to the rows of "perfect" cars.

I hope to be there in my 'driver' 57 TR3, maybe I'll see you there.

Ian,

The evil "R" word takes many shapes and forms with these cars.

Yes, R can be for restoration, as in major or minor.

Or, R can be for reliable, as in must do to be able to count on it.

Or, R can be for racing and we all know where that can go.

But mostly, it stands for Recreation, which can be pronounced one of two ways and will have two different meanings.

Recreation as in fun or relaxing, like with a hobby or game, or just driving the car with no worries or cares.

Or,

ReCREATION, which is to rebuild it all over again.

One word, two meanings that will work for which ever way you want to do these things. Which ever makes you happy is the one to choose. We like all choices here.
 
Just for clarity, the only reason I think restoration should be an evil word is because of the amount of time and money these things take.

I am all for restoration, recreation, reliability, and racing. One just needs to be prepared before heading down any of those paths. I guess you could lump me in the recreation camp for now. Someday the TR will get a true frame off restoration, just not this year.
