Hello everyone,

Just a note to re-introduce myself on this forum. I've been a long time lurker with my first post some 2 years ago when I was looking at a 1980 MGB LE. I bought the car, based more on emotion than common sense (more on that later.) I've spent some time on other forums and elsewhere on the net, coming back to BCF to search and read posts. I'm trying to become more mechanically minded but brace yourselves for some naive questions.

A little about the car. Its a 1980 MGB LE with just over 150,000 miles, Weber 32/36 DGV and lowered. This past winter I switched over to a Pertronix dizzy and coil, new fuel tank, rebuilt the carb. I just completed replacing the exhaust with a Peco, rebuilt the rear brakes and new calipers on the front, rebuilt clutch master and slave cylinders. I really enjoy working on the car and learning as I go.

There is sill and panel work in my near future. Maybe this winter, but I'm still undecided if I am ready to tackle it. I knew this when purchasing the car but fell in love with the lowered LE and could not let it go. Dog legs on both sides need replaced, rockers and maybe even the inner sills. I bought a Hobart 125 + gas welder and have been practicing so expect some sill and panel work questions in the future.

I'm looking forward to taking a more active part in the forum over the coming months.

Welcome indeed. Glad you could join us.

Thanks Jack. I've been reading your posts about your Bugeye. I've a soft spot in my heart for those cars as well. Someday I hope to have one in the stable.

Tony, were those two posts like those photos where you have to spot the differences between them? I see a missing 'c' in the first one! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

"one of these posts is not like the others" - hehehehehehe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Welcome Tim!

beats me how that happened!

Welcome...I love the look of the black LE's...I just sold mine in August. Don't be afraid to ask questions...Nomatter how naive they may seam....You'll never know unless you ask /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

HOWDY! LEs have a neat look. saw one last friday that has a mid 90s GM 4 cyl (quad) engine in it. I'm not sure how I felt about it, but it sure went like snot...
Ask away, anything. we all have been there, or may have the same questions, no matter how basic. These guys are always willing to help.
One thing on that welder. If you're running it gasless, the best wire I've used is the actual Hobart wire. it seems to work the best. It made much better results than other wire. I.E. Lincoln, or the stuff from Wall Mart

I didn't know wal-mart sold welding wire... I seriously gotta look around next time I'm in there. I actually avoid looking around because that plays into their "impulse-buyer" marketing.
