Introduction 59 bugeye project

This is my 37th year of teaching middle school students...still going strong. Found my '59 Bugeye in Iowa last fall and trailered it home. Great weather in the Upstate of South Carolina today....have had it out. Waiting on spring to arrive. Is a slight backfire or popping normal when I let off the accelerator? Could it be burning too lean? Gads it's done this ever since I've owned it.

No of course not. It is a happy little engine and should be smooth as silk. Check your timeing.

Carbs or timing might be a little off, or maybe valve adjustments? You are a trooper, the longest I managed to deal with middle schoolers was two years. 2nd through 12th was no prob. for 7 years, but those middle schoolers /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif!! My hat is off to you sir!
