Intresting noise

Went out for a bit this evening. Too hot in the day time.

Had an intresting noise, thought it was the tranny. Shortly the tac started bouncing around, then quit for awile then only showed about 500 RPM.

Too dark now to check things out. Has to be the tac gear box or the cable. Box is old old but cleaned inside and relubed, cable is new. We will see.

Hotter than the hinges out this morning but I found that the tac drive screws that hold the two parts of the drive together had loosened and allowed the gears to slip apart a bit.

Relubed with white grease, new lock washers reassembled and all is well.

Gota love these little cars and their maintance.

Hmmm...would a dab of Loctite on them be preventative in the future? Glad to hear it was a simple fix and nothing dire!!

Like the Brill Cream commercial many years ago, "A little dab will do ya!" Some are probably asking what is Brill Cream.

Nah, we're asking, why would you put brillcreem on a bolt? :jester:

Wasn't it Brylcream?

Anyway, to stay on topic, how many of us old fogeys remember the Burma Shave signs along the roads? Four signs comprising a jingle; e.g.,

Dyna didn't
Understand him quite
But if he'd shave
Dyna might...

finishing with the "Burma Shave" sign.

(Amazing, the stuff you remember from 50 years ago...now, where'd I leave my dang car keys?)

Or the "Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco" ads on the sides of barns?

Sigh....

SEE ROCK CITY

Miss A made noise
I looked for trouble
I worked so long
I grew some stubble
Burma Shave

Oh, well done John-Peter.

Took 10 year old Grandson for a run last evening. It was smiles the whole way. He really got into the waveing back at folks. Lots of excitement.

Oh yea tac worked fine now.

My $.02 since it's just us old guys!!!

In this world
Of toil and sin
Our heads grow bald
But not our chins
Burma Shave

T'was just loose screws
That was good news
It made me grin
by the hairs on my chin
Burma Shave
