I used another thread to ask everyone advise on how to align and start screws on interior panels. My next question is, My interior kit will include the capping covers as well as dash material. So is there rhyme or reason to where you start or finish? I know that the dash will likely be a booger and I have collected the older posts that apply to the job, but if anyone has any info that will help it will be greatly appreciated.
 
I don't know about the dash part, but once you start the seats and door panels you'll soon realize that its pretty darn easy to do. You can always back out a clip and put in a new one if you somehow manage to set the covers a little cockeyed. But honestly, its really hard to screw up. I don't even see how to give you directions, as it really is that easy. Just dive in and have fun :smile:
 
Assuming Eric is talking about the TR3, there are no clips on the door panels. Only the #4 screws with cup washers and I know what you mean about lining up.
I have been looking for a source for "slightly larger" screws and washers to cover the small hole where my drilled hole through the panel lined up with an existing hole in the metal underneath and will not catch.
I likely will have to take the panel off and place something there for backing to catch the screw.

Even on the good holes it is difficult to get the screws/washers to appear flat against the panel.

I am talking about a tr3 and I think that I will make a template of the original panel. And then try to miss the original hole a bit ad pre-punch or drill the panel on the bench. Then attach with some 2 sided tape and drill into the door panel. using a drill size that will allow a #4 screw to tighten well. This will hopefully let me start the screw straight and keep a pattern that will look very similar to the original.
