TR4/4A Interior hold-downs

My TR4 has the rear covers for the frame of the top; but it seems to want to move with the wind, especially the small side pieces. I admit I drove it for years without these formal details, so I never noticed (of course). What's the best option?

Do the small side pieces have their snaps - two on each, one forward one to the rear? I don't see how they could move much with those attached.

I don't see any snaps; there is a strap attached to the front area, but there are no snaps.

Can you illuminate this issue and let me know how I can address it? Thanks so much!

I think you're missing 8 snaps - 4 on each side.

3 are visible when the stick cover is done up:

A 4th one is hidden - you snap this one on before you lower the back cover over the sticks:

Here's a look at the male snaps in place for the front 3:

This is the original interior so I assume all TR4s had a similar arrangement. Possibly not all the straps are needed but at the very least the forwardmost pair would do a lot to keep the sides from flapping in the breeze.

Thanks! Those photos help a bunch.

Also, it seems the larger rear cover has two brass eyelets on each side along a portion of flat +/- 1"x20" vinyl that seems to be designed to snap down on the brass points sticking thru the carpet, but they do not. Any assistance with these?

Thanks again!

The floor board has 4 lift-the-dot pegs pointing up.

The portion of the stickcover that forms the rear panel has 4 holes in it with grommets. The grommets go over the pegs.

The carpet in that area should have 4 female lift-the-dot fasteners. These then go on the pegs and hold down the rear cover.

The carpet there is glued along the front face and the piece over the hump is glued, the rest is left loose so it can be lifted and re-fitted as needed to fasten the cover.

Perhaps you are missing the female LTDs in the carpet?

Sorry about the tiny photos - they were what I had handy. At least they show the original carpet (since replaced).

Yes, I'm obviously missing the female LTDs on that back portion. I guess I have some work to do to 'fix' this mess left by the interior kit installer my father hired. Many thanks!!!

I will have to remember this when I go to put my new interior back in. I don't remember ever seeing four LTD pegs in my car. I'm assuming they are screwed down like the ones on the top aluminum piece. I never saw any holes in the rear for those. Maybe my grandpa covered them up as I know he replaced the carpet at one time. The snaps for the covers were definitely there. Mine will be exactly like that, exterior color and all! Thanks!

Update: Well I'll be...found a picture of when I removed the interior. Sure enough there are indents there for those. Looks like I'll be buying some.
