Interior goo and rust removal

Hey everyone!

I managed to get the seats out of the Midget today and pull out what carpet I could. I want to clean up the floor pan and get it primed but there's still a ton of carpet goo that seems to be fused to the metal, and other parts of the carpet that wouldn't give.

Can anyone offer any advice on a good way to remove all the goo and then the rust? I'm hoping someone has a good home-grown method...

I've heard and seen how good this product is. Have no personal experience with it, but it removes contact cement! Give it a go.

Yeah, that's what I did before a friend showed me this. Wire wheels are cheap at Harbor Freight and the goo comes right off. I was pretty pleased with the wire wheel option. This would be the equivalent of using paint stripper vs. sanding. If you want to have to deal with the gooey mess, then strip it. If you just want to vacuum things up, wire wheel it. If it's for the interior, just remember....you only have to put more contact cement down anyway.

I found that a heat gun and putty knife worked pretty well.

worked for me too and then solvent to get the rest

Thanks for all the tips! Luckily I live about 3 miles from a Harbor Freight store so I'll have to take a trip down there soon
