Interesting TR-2 Accessory

While I'm dismantling my TR-2 I found this AM radio built into the mirror assembly. As far as I can tell this Voxson unit was made in 1959 and sold thru dealerships as an aftermarket add on. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before.

That IS rare! Never seen anything like that.

Yeh that is a new one on me. Could you maybe explain more about the mirror assembly? I have been around tr3s for years (they are not that much different from a tr2) and I have never heard of a mirror assembly.

This gadget just attaches to the mirror post coming up from the dash. There is a four wire connector on the back of the radio that plugs into a harness running up thru the mirror support bracket. The wiring is all neatly done, so it sure looks like an installed by dealer setup. It even has an old speaker under the dash.....

A Google reveals it may have been made in Italy by "Fabbrica Apparecchi Radio e Televisione". Do you suppose they just used the logical acronym?

Nifty little radio. With it being of the right vintage I think I'd try to get it working and keep it in the car. Cool find.

As I dismantle this car further, I think I'm going to go right thru it like I did my TR-6. Body off, the whole works. I'll include getting this radio to work if I can, as I do think it's a cool addition to the car....
