Interesting Spridget exhaust

Here's one I haven't seen before: a NASCAR-style exhaust on a Spridget. This was an A-series powered car too (not a 1500), so they had to move the outlet over to the "wrong" side.

Car is owned by Dennis Gonzalez and be brought it all the way from Puerto Rico for the 2011 Jefferson 500.
To see all my Jeff-500 photos and in-car videos, ~Click Here~ (the first video is pretty good).

Dennis lives in PR, but I'm pretty sure Gary Johnson in Knoxville, TN, takes care of the car. Dennis called me a couple of years ago, wanting to buy a racing Spridget, I turned him on to Jerry B. who was selling his car (the car Dennis has now), and then he wanted someone to do race prep and track support for him here in the states, since thats where he would be racing it, so I recommended Gary to him, and they have been racing together ever since.

Ah, I see. I talked to Dennis for a few minutes, but he didn't say where the car was kept. He's a nice guy and the car is a beauty!

Of course, the really interesting car there was Chuck Pitt's Spridget. It's Craig Chima's old limited prep car.

Somewhere I saw an exhaust that was run the in the tunnel with the driveline. Nice idea, give great ground clearance for lowered cars.

The thru tunnel exhaust became quite popular in SCCA racing, they probably been around now for two decades, a few vintage cars have them as well. Several of my race engine customers have thru tunnel exhaust on their racing Spridgets, I recently helped one customer re do his thru tunnel exhaust pipe. We even have one racing Spridget that has a side pipe on it, exiting on the driver's front wheel opening and running down the driver's side rocker panel. The exhaust on Dennis' car would be illegal in SCCA racing, but no one cares about such things in vintage, and rightfully so.
