Those are common in the Miata crowd. Not as strong as a conventional roll bar and it uses more tubing, thus making it heavier. I looked into making one for someone on here once for a wedge and it worked out to be slightly more than 20 feet of pipe plus steel plate for the feet. Materials+labor+shipping costs=cost prohibitive for a one off. But they look cool!

I've seen several different styles that were all variations on the double hump. The one you posted is the only one I've seen with those horizontal wrap around pieces similar to drag racing containment cages. Again, it looks cool, but all that pipe adds some serious weight, not to mention all the steel to bang your head against in a collision.

Lots of triangles that aren't really triangles. All of the pipes have bends in them. Those rear facing down tubes are all ready prebent. What do you think will happen to those tubes in a roll over? They will continue to bend and fail, that is what will happen. Also the biggest fault with the structure is the fact that there is no diagonal to protect from side loads. Unfortunately a roll over is not the same as picking a car up and dropping it straight down on it's roof.

I really don't see that set of bars bending very far, the NHRA has the SFI specs on cages and that Alpine cage is very simular to the rear portion of a dragster cage.
