The green "TR7" was the "lynx". Was supposed to be a 2+2 with the Rover V8 in it. Was reportedly killed off by management in response to labor disputes at the factory.

What is the MGB thingy in the first photo? The lynx is kind of boring and dour, quite the opposite of the 7.

Fiberglass hardtop on an MGB roadster. There were a couple different fastback style hardtops offered by a bunch of manufacturers. Tried looking this one up on Steve_S's website but didn't see one exactly like this one.

Upper part of the Lynx looks like my 77 Lancia Beta.

From the other site
"[FONT=Century Gothic, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]MBG with a J&S GTB hardtop, these were a fast back style that went all the way to the back of the car and replaced the MGB boot lid with it's own integrated boot lid.
These really did look good in the flesh. They made the MGB GT look like a box in comparison.
The other great advantages of this design were a huge improvement in torsional rigidity (handling) and better aerodynamics (speed) made this car a very quick club racer."

Although I have never owned an MGB-GT, I think it's one of the best-looking coupes I can think of.

By comparison, that slopely, orange thing above with the too-big side windows is sort of a mess.

This is all a matter of personal opinion, of course. :friendly_wink:

Though not a great fan of the Lynx (green coupe), I wish BL had used the plainer sides of that car for the TR7 (instead of the "swoosh").

I like the B, the 7 looks like somebody grafted a Citation back end on it.

I've been looking for one of these with no success. Here's a couple pics. PJ

Owned by a fellow down under. This car is quite modified for racing.

Another. Different manufacturer.

Bare top.

looks better without the popped collar ;)

I kinda like the fastback MGB, looks like a VW type 3 fastback had a kid with an MGB.
