So my neice stopped by with her boyfriend last night and he took a look at the Spit. He tells me he think there is one or a two seater something with a hard top parked out by his Dads airstrip right around the corner. He tells me he will rush home and click some pics. I'm looking at the carbs. HSU6.. Think they will work?

Why not take the whole car? Its cool looking Volvo and appears to be in restorable condition. I don't know how hard it is to get a title for an abandoned car in New York though...

I read somewhere that the SU carbs on a Volvo engine are inclined and if you mount them horizontally on a TR, the float bowls from the Volvo will now be inclined the other way and now the float will no longer rise vertically. I also read that you need new float bowls, available from most SU repair shops, so they will work properly. Maybe this is what is included in this kit mentioned above. Better ask.

I would love to get the whole car. But my staorage space and the wife have different intentions. I was thinking after my Spit is done, gather up this one and possibly do a track car.
45 minutes from Watkins Glen has the blood flowing.

Don is right, they (USs)are slightly inclined. A little bigger as well. I have a 67 P1800 as well, if you were closer I would come and get it.

BTW- Its very likely the P1800 has a D type overdrive trans in it. 32% overdrive, might be worth looking into?

These are cool cars, and the greasy bits are almost all the same as the 122(s) and some of the 140 series. Don is right that they sit on a slant whereas our TRs are flat.

She's going to need a fair amount of rust repair from a quick glance at the photos, and these do seem to rust more than the 122 sedans. Not sure how available the body parts are for the P1800 whereas the 122 parts are pretty easily had.

Go for it!
