Many thanks Nevets! Since discovering BaT only last year when a friend of mine sold his '62 BN7 triple carb on BaT ( see: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-austin-healey-3000-bn7/ ), I'd often wondered how that site started up & who was operating it & how. Now I know the details with the NYT article you've made known to all of us!

I find the "Chatty Auction Site" (sic) really interesting, as there's lot's of peer review going on online, & that helps us all in providing lots of techy info, tips, stories, concours stuff & the like. Much like this BC forum. This current BaT auction that started today gives another good example of that type of "chat":
