Intentional

The entire thing is stunning. And impossible to explain.

I have a friend who is in his late 20s and flies second-seat in a regional airline in the eastern US. I just talked to his brother a few minutes ago. None of us can make any sense of it.

I can't even process this mentally. It just makes no sense.

I heard that on NPR this morning on my way to work, it's almost unbelievable. I cannot fathom what would make a man want to kill 150 people.

Saw a program, Air Disasters a month so ago...some Malaysian airlines, stock market losses, captain locked the co-pilot out, turned off the CVR and FDR, drive it vertically into the ground. There was another, I think...not unheard of any more.

What makes people do a lot of the horrible things that happen? Example, what would make men want to behead little children?

Riddle me this: What would make ONE GUY want to kill SIX MILLION PEOPLE?

Better yet, how in the **** did an ENTIRE NATION go along with it?

....and then there is Rwanda....over what?.... "Purety"?!

One guy killing 150 people doesn't shock me at all in that context.

I've spent the last year completely "disassembling" society, culture and human behavior mentally much in the same way you would disassemble a car for a total restoration. I took on this exercise to better understand the world's "progress" since mankind showed up. This type of behavior doesn't surprise me in the least; ....if it is in fact "behavior" at all. That is three, maybe four planes in just slightly over a year? There is now a pattern here and a need to stop it.

Look for the future implementation of pilot override capabilities from the ground on all commercial aircraft thus enabling them to be flown like drones. It would be very difficult to imagine that's not the next logical step.

Cant's imagine the horror those poor passengers experienced.

From what I read earlier, it stated decent was consistent with pilot or autopilot control. That would seem to indicate a regular decent and folks may not have realized what was up till the very end, except for maybe the people in first class.

"What makes people do a lot of the horrible things that happen? Example, what would make men want to behead little children?"

More actions I cannot fathom. I know travesties happen all over the world all the time, frequency and severity of the acts do not make them easier to understand or digest. I'm not the Shadow, so I don't know what evil lurks in the hearts of men, much less understand it.

After 9/11 a set of airline standards,Protocols, were produced by the world community.
European air lines failed to implement them. " TWO PEOPLE IN THE COCKPIT AT ALL TIMES" May not have prevented this but then again it may have. Keoke is Ticked off!!!

I'm sure there is more to this to come out. Seems strange they know what the pilot did to the controls when they only have the cockpit voice recorder but haven't recovered the black box yet.

". I'm not the Shadow, so I don't know what evil lurks in the hearts of men, much less understand it.

Unfortunately that just makes folks better victims. The only way to conquer a force is to be able to anticipate it. The was a philosopher, I can't remember who, that said, "Sometimes the forces of evil are so large and sinister that most people deny it's existence merely to avoid the darkness of thought needed to recognize it"...or something to that effect.

Human nature is crazy. We kill each other for the silliest of reasons. It's like the Star Trek episode with the Cherons. To an outside observer from another planet, we must look like a bunch nut cases as they probably can't see the differences between the various nuances of humanity as being worthy of killing each other over.

KILLER IN THE COCKPIT???
It's amazing how the complexity of the human brain is beyond the most complete analysis of the most brilliant medical scientists. We hear in so many cases that, he was a nice guy, he would never do anything like this! I've known him all his life! To intentionally take ones own life, if that's what happened here, is bad enough, but to take 150 innocent people with you, is mass murder! Safe guards must be put in place now, not 2 years from now! People put their trust in the airlines to be transported safely to their destination and it's up to them to put these safe guards in place and not cut down on the crew count to save money. JMHO. PJ

Perfectly good airplanes don't crash themselves!

Just read something that they found he has been treated for "something" but are not really saying what. Then it went on to say he was being treated for depression and a break up with a girlfriend may have triggered it. Granted we are still in the speculation period but if that's why it doesn't surprise me.

:iagree:I saw the this morning. Also said the airline was aware of his problems. Maybe not who we would want in that position.

Yeah then in their next breath they told us how much attention they use in selecting the pilots they put in their cockpits.

Too bad it's not mandatory that the doctor has to report his findings to the airline based on the profession of the pilot.
When my daughter had a medical problem a few years ago the doctor was required to report his findings to the state DMV which prevented my daughter from driving until her condition improved.

I may have told this story before but here's goes anyway.

Several years ago, a local guy I know brought someone over to see about his truck that won't run. During the conversation, the truck's owner stops talking and wouldn't answer any of my questions; he just stood there. Next thing I know, this 275# guys starts going down face first like a falling tree. I grab him as best as I can and we both go down. Upon his "awakening", my "friend" says,

"Yeah, he's been doin' that for a while now. Been to the doctors lots and they can't figure out why. Every so often he just shuts off."

I look at both of them in complete shock and horror and explain, that in no way shape or form will I EVER help get this guy behind the wheel of a vehicle until this problem has been resolved. I explain (in no uncertain terms) that this guy has no business whatsoever on the road PERIOD,... much less any roads that my wife or I drive on..... It's just a matter of time before something happens. Their plan of action was, "Well, we just hope in won't while he's driving". (Yes, they both said that, seriously).

A week or so later the idiot that brought him over sells him a truck he had, "Because the poor guy needed transportation".

Three weeks after that ....the guy's brain vapor locked again and he went head-on into an oak tree and was killed...

The guy who brought him here was telling me about the funeral,

"Man, that was the saddest funeral I've ever been too..."

It took everything I had to keep from saying,

"Yeah, I bet it was; you helped kill the mofo..."
