intake manifold to carb studs

Hi folks,
What kind of thread treatment do I put on the course threads of the studs that go into the aluminum intake manifold for the carbs?

Thanks,

Assuming that the manifold threads are clean, and the stud is new, none is probably required. If the stud is not plated, then I would put some anti-sieze compound on the stud. As I'm assembling my BJ8, anti-sieze goes on almost all threaded connections, even if nuts and bolts are new. The anti-sieze will mess up some torque values, I understand, so be careful there, but the application you're talking about is not a high torque situation. The only real reason to use any compound there is to ease removal, but that's an unlikely problem in the manifold. Especially since I'm sure your Healey will be treated with utmost care during its second life.

Hi Lin, I would put a good antisieze compound on the engine side of the thread. What this will allow you to do in the future is remove a single carb off the car without the hassle of dealing with both. The method I use is to loosen the attaching nuts then with a very "small" pair of channel lock pliers placed under the carb flange, unscrew the studs. That carb can then be removed independent of the other.--Fwiw--Keoke

keoke, when i rebuilt the carbs both choke cable ends were frayed i was able to buy a new #1 carb cable and installed it i salvaged and used the old #1 since its the longer of the two and install it on the shorter run on #2 carb, the rebuild made an "astounding" difference as i expected it would, thanks go to joe curto for having all the right parts unlike "the guy down the road" and yes my son has one of them carbon fiber racing bikes id been eyeballing the brake cables for a couple a days he must have got wise to the formulating plot cuz the bike suddenly dissapeared! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
