Intake manifold--paint?

Has anyone out there found a way to perserve the finish of a sandblasted intake manifold? I should have my motor (BJ8)back from the shop in about two weeks and I'm starting to clean and paint parts. The manifold has been sandblasted and I'd love to retain that clean cast aluminium look.
Any suggestions?
 
I had my intake aluminum ceramic coated and my exhaust ceramic coated cast iron gray. They look very good and will also keep the intake air cool and will lower the heat from the exhaust. I have also considered ceramic coating the down pipes keeping the exhaust temperature in the engine compartment lower.

Is what you have done also called "jet" coating? I have heard that this coating is done on the exhaust as well as intake side to help in temp reduction or keeping it hot depending what side of the thermo scale you are on. Exhaust keeps hotter. Better thermo. On intake side it is kept cooler for better charge into the cylinders.
 
“jet” coating is the same procedure as ceramic coating. Yes, you will experience cooler exhaust manifold temperatures and a cooler dense intake charge. Both will improve performance. BTW I also aluminum ceramic coated my TR6 exhaust header and this really improved hot day Stromberg hot idle issues magnified by installing a triple carb kit.
 
Matte finish clear is kinda what I'm leaning toward but I'm concerned about the heat. I've got a can of 'Aluma Blast' (made by Eastwood)but it's only rated to 250 degrees.
I'll head over to the Jet-Hot website and take a look...
 
Your intake manifold shouldn't get hot enough to hurt the paint. It's held up well in my application, anyway.
There is also some high heat powdercoat available, but I was under the impression that you wanted to maintain the freshly blasted look.

I had the exhaust on my airplane done by Jet Hot and it is great stuff. The pipes and mufflers were done in black and the exhaust stacks were done in a chrome finish that has not burned off or discolored. I had the piston domes done with a ceramic thermal barrier coating to lower oil temps and the piston skirts were done with a friction reducing coating. I am really pleased with the way the engine turned out lower oil temps and more performance. I didn`t do it with my Healey engine for one reason (COST). I went back with a stainless exhaust system on my BT-7. Skip
 
You're right Jeff, it's that clean blasted look I'm after.
I plan on 'Jet-Hot' coating the headers. The clear sounds like the way to go for the intake.
