I just bought a 1966 BJ8 and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to who I should insure it with? I used Hagerty for my Triumph but was limited to 1500 miles.

Thanks

Hi sjqcpa,

My 65 is still being put back together so I have not gotten to your dilema yet. There is a very long topic about this on the forum. Just use the search function and type in insurance. You should see it.

SJG - When I first got my Healey I checked all of the usual "collector car" insurance providers, then as an afterthought I called my State Farm agent with whom I have my other cars insured. I was quite surprised that they offered the best coverage for the lowest premium of those that I surveyed. I do have a 2,000 mile annual limit, however, so I may end up looking for something that will give me a little more freedom to roam at some point...

Hagerty is MUCH more flexible with allowable use of the vehicle than it used to be. They have relaxed the mileage limits and they have allowed "pleasure use" of the vehicle. To me... any time I drive my LBCs it's a pleasure. Their biggest concern now is that you store it safely and that you have another car for use as your daily driver.

However, I have heard a lot of good comments about State Farm like those Wana made in his post.

So I you just paid 141,000 for a car and Hagerty is the sponsor of the Barrett-Jackson action where you bought it, how do you lie about the value for insurance replacement?
