Instructions to convert to neg ground

Hello all. My BJ8 II is currently positive ground. I'm leaning towards converting to neg for the following reasons.

To allow me to use a trickle charger and in case I need a jump from a negative car. Just simplifies the connections and safety. I am a weekend driver.

Also, there are now portable navagation systems, like TOM TOM, that plug into a cigar lighter for power.

Does anyone know of a link that shows clearly and simply how to convert pos to neg?

Thank you, Roger

use the search feature of the forum. Type in "negative ground" in the subject line for Austin Healey. The difficult part is switching the tach over to neg ground. You might also need to replace a diode in the fuel pump. The rest is fairly easy. A tach rebuilder (Nosingers or Moma) can rework the tach for you.

I'm not sure what the problem with the tach is. I beleive you just need to reverse the wires to the loop in back (white wire). I had a link somewere regarding the switch over from an MG sight. I will look for it. I followed the instructions and it works fine.

Sumpin wrong there TH, there are connections inside the Tach that must be changed.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
