I am getting ready to install my new dash pad in my '74 Midget. (The full dash cover, not just the top) I got it from Moss and the directions call for using contact cement. I have a few questions. One is what kind of contact cement has anyone used? Was it spray on or brush on? Has anyone used silicone?
I have read that at least some have found the new pads too thick around the gauge and switch openings, is that a problem and how should it be dealt with?

Don't know about dash pads, Tom, but the spray contact glue I have used didn't compare to the good old fashioned brush on kind.

glad to see you researching this so thoroughly! If the glue you use does let go it is a huge mess to clean up and start over. I used a high temp vinyl top contact cement that you can brush, roll on, or spray if you have the right equipment. The brand I used is Weldwood/DAP and after 2 failed tries with the 3M spray on stuff I searched the internet. The hot rod forums talk about this a lot and that's where I discovered the Weldwood product.

I had a computer meltdown the last few days and am finally recovering from it. I was afraid of loosing nearly everything but by a slow and boring process I am recovering my data.
Anyway I am getting the dash together using Weldwood. I found that the plastic cover needed to be cleaned with rubbing alcohol before applying the cement. I am not rushing things too much and should be finished by thee time the rest of the bits for the interior arrive.
Last week I painted the wheels and this morning i had new 175/70R13 tires installed. And the seat covers and carpet arrived from Prestige. I think they look great.

Weldwood gets my vote, after two interiors :smile:
 
Looks great - I particularly like the grey in the wheels - I used grey as well instead of black and think it updates it subtly and makes it look much nicer!
