General MG Installing Moss lock clips on door lock barrels , newer Midget

Helping a friend with his 78 Midget . Wondering if there are any issues regarding installing the Moss lock clips part number 402-195 on the door lock barrels. There is a crash panel welded to the inside of the door skin on the newer cars , does that prohibit installing these?
