MGB installing MG dash

Installing a new dash in my 79B. Just got the old one out and have a few questions (so far)-

- how to remove, without damage, a couple of parts : the turn and idiot lamp sockets seem to be held in by some sort of press nut; the dash dimmer control knob does nat easily remove - is there some sort of trick or is it just frozen?

- the clock had the remains of an o-ring betwen the clock bezel and the dash face. Should all the gauges have an o-ring?

Not that well versed on a 79 dash, even though I have one on the shelf, I believe the dimmer knob has a screw in it to lock it on the shaft. If I get a chance today, I'll pull it down and look. PJ

I hope that I catch you before you go to that trouble. I found out how it goes together. I had suspected that there was a push button interlock, just like the heater control knobs, but was unable to find it until later, when I could get the dash out into better light. But I am interested to hear that you have a dash sitting on a shelf. When removing my foam, I lost sight of the fact that the metal dash would be very weak down the line of the idiot lights, due to the lack of metal in this area. It bent. I think that with a little work, and the added strength of the new foam padding, it will all work out all right. But it would be nice to have a plan B. Would you consider putting a price on your dash?
