Hello everyone! I am finally installing the W58 Toyota conversion from HVDA. I have received the conversion kit from Herman van den Akker and have placed the order for the "bent fingers" pressure plate. It should be received by the end of next week.
Herman has been quite helpful and supportive. His kit provided a DVD step by step instruction; however, there are some things, nonetheless, I still have questions on. Maybe some of you can be of help, as I do not want to hang on Herman's shirt sleeve for everything.
The DVD mentions upon lifting the new transmission into place, do not touch the flange at the end of the transmission as this could damage the rear oil seal therein. The comment I have most concern with is, "And if you turn the transmission flange, you're in trouble."
This concerns me. What is the "trouble" of which he speaks? In removing and replacing the flywheel, the engine turned, in tightening down the
bolts. Would this, in effect, put me into "trouble" in the same way as turning the transmission by its flange?
If I am in trouble, there must be a remedy. Any input? Thanks.
