Installing engine with starter attached???

There is no dumb questions, so here goes. Can I install the engine (1275) with the starter attached? The books all show to remove the starter before removing the engine and to reinstall it the ass backward of removing.

The factory did it with ancillaries i.e.
starter, generator, and carbs aconnected but manifold sitting on top of engine so it would fit through frame rails. If you can get things high enough to get the angle to fit over radiator supports... In my garage w 7' ceiling I need to plan an install that goes between radiator support brackets or be able to ro car out of garage and into drivewAy that slopes sharply downhill.

My garage also has low ceilings, and my car was up on blocks. I pulled the engine separately from the tranny, and lifted it straight up. I've not put it back yet, not sure how hard it will be to mate the engine and tranny while they are in the car. But that is my plan.

Why do we all have low ceilings? I have a front tilt kit so bonnet has to be removed, radiator is out. Don't forget to hook up the drive shaft to the tranny before you install. As we all say, don't ask me how I know that.

Thanks everybody
