Maybe I did something wrong when I made my TR3A door panels. If I first install the door latch pull cable and get it tight, I then can't get the door pocket over the cable. If I try to thread the pull cable through the door pocket and then bolt it into the door latch, I can't get the cable tight enough because when I lean the door panel out to reach the latch bolt, it pulls the cable out so it is not tight. Are there any tricks on how to do this? Thanks!

The one thing you said that confused me was "...can't get the door pocket over the cable". Of course the pocket goes behind the cable from below -- maybe this is what you meant.

You're not trying to offer the panel directly to the door and stretch the cable over the top of the pocket are you?

I'm sure I have always installed the cable first, then installed the panel bringing it up from below with the top of the pocket slipping behind the cable. Possibly you have the cable too tight when you try this?

Some photos (from you or me) might make the problem obvious.

I just recently went through this process myself. Once the pocket was fixed to the panel it took a good bit of "coaxing" to get the cable to slide in the gap on the upper side of the pocket. I started from below and eased the panel upward while flexing the bottom edge of the panel in toward the center of the car so the bottom of the pocket would eventually slide in over the bottom edge of the door. I went through this process several times so that I could judge the size of the depth of the slot in the back side of the pocket. The cable needs to sit right in that gap and not bind when actuated. If you have a new pocket from Moss you're going to have to trim that slot. I'll see if I can take a photo or two tomorrow.

The cable should be fitted slightly loose so it sits in a shallow arc.

Tie a pull string midway along the cable. Bring the string down through the slot and out the pocket. Offer up the door trim using the string to ease the cable down its slot. When the cable is visible in the pocket the string can be removed.

Thanks! Using string to pull the cable down into the slot is a good idea. I glued up the ragged old pockets with a waterproof white glue so they ended up quite stiff. I believe that is causing a lot of the problem. As Rick mentioned, it took quite a bit of coaxing to get the cable into the slot and with mine being stiff, it seems especially difficult.
