Installing a Bugeye Bonnet on my 67 Midget.

I found a Bugeye bonnet for sale here locally. The thing looks pretty good. It's on a 1962 Midget with nice doors, dash, windscreen, plenty of spare parts. No engine or mechanicals. What is the goin /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gifg price for the Sprite Bonnet? I want to have it for my 67 Midget. Is the installation a big problem?

It'll fit easy, but you'll have to fabricate a hinge setup. And you'll have to decide if you want it to be hinged at the front or rear (I'd prefer the hinges at the front, for a flip-forward setup).
A replica fiberglass Bugeye nose will run anywhere from $700 to $1200 USD. In my view, a real steel one in nice shape is more valuable than a new fiberglass one (just my opinion).

last I heard an original metal bonnet new went for $3000!
probably why glass is the way to go if originality is not important. The glass hood is much lighter too and that should help performance

Like said above, Installation is practicly bolt-on. A few mods would have to be done, but nothing major.
And those noses are unrealisticly valuable. So if you can get the whole shell for a good price, go for it.

Gunner, nice find. Wasn't there some sort of concoction of a Spridget on ebay similar to that lately? Bugeye bonnet but a sidecurtain midget and worst of all, it had a VW Beetle engine stuck in the trunk! I think it was in GA too!

Let us know how it turns out. I would definately be interested in the bonnet, fenders, and front apron/valence off of your 67. And I might also be interested in the rest of that 62 midget. Let me know. Thanks, James

Well, I'm kinda pressed for time this weekend... Report cards going out, principal wants real lesson plans, etc.(Imagine !!!) (Teaching School really cuts into your restoration time) ... I started painting my engine block.. I chose Detroit Diesel Alpine Green color.. Dupli-color engine enamel... I think it looks pretty goood for a non stock color...
I'll try to get out and see about the Bugeye Bonnet tomorrow.
