"Installation is simple..."

Famous last words that seem to haunt most of what I do.

I purchased trim/beauty rings for the 13inch wheels on my BE. They are not popping into place. I even took off the wheels, laid it flat, and tried installing them from the top.

I keep coming up with a gap of about 1/2 inch. The rings don't seem to want to set in all the way.

Any recommendations of these things?

Ahhh, sure you have the right ones??????????

Re: "Installation is simple..."

Are you saying they stick out away from the wheel about 1/2"?

Re: "Installation is simple..."

The wheels are 13 in wheels. They have "ZYS" stamped on their face. They have a four bolt pattern, two round openings, one to line up with the rubber plug that cover the disc brake adjustment. There are a few other rubber studs that help hold the hub caps in place. Finally, there are a series of holes running around the wheel to provide for air circulation.

The rings are off the wheels all the way around by at least a half inch

The trim rings are 13inch and purchased out of the VB Sprite catalogue.

I would call the suplier, seems something is incorrect and I expect it is not the wheels.

Re: "Installation is simple..."

Mike, you've described stock Bugeye wheels. I can't remember if the trim rings fit the early wheels or not. Let me do some research on that. I don't think I've got any Bugeye wheels here, but I can get my hands on one easily. I've got a set or two of trim rings from a '63~'65, and I'll try one on a Bugeye wheel.
Won't be until tomorrow afternoon though.

Jeff:

Let me know if you come up with anything on these trim rings.

If anyone else has any experience with trim rings, can you give me "heads up?"

I'm going to return my trim rings tomorrow. I'll say, when they are on the wheels, even when offset, they do really dress up the appearance.

Thanks,
mike Pennell
