After Seeing Cascadia's gorgeous TR4 on e-bay, I am inspired to get back to work on Ol' rustbucket.

First I pulled the body off the frame. No holes in the frame, other than the rear crossmember.

Note my friend's MGB in the background. Just finished reawakening it after a twenty year nap. All it needs is new tires and tags, and it's ready to roll.

How is a Triumph front suspension like an English muffin? Lots of nooks and crannies! Two rounds with the power washer and it's still filthy.

And, yes, that red-orange "TR3" was applied at the factory. Blocks were built for several different models, and it was their high-tech way of separating them. When I rebuilt the engine for the '57 I had, I painted the block, then applied the "TR3" where it had been.

that's what my car looks like. After some welding and blasting and all the crud is gone, It will look better than ever. Many nice looking old cars start out like this.

But his is a TR4. Leftover TR3 engine? Or swapped sometime during the car's lifetime.

Did they still paint TR on 4s?
 
It might be a number 4 written behind the starter. I haven't cleaned it off enough yet to tell.

Also, this is CT471L, one of the first ones to roll off the line. It has lots of TR3 style parts on it. The engine number is very close to the commission number, so I am pretty sure it's the original.

This frame has to have the hardest, nastiest grime on it I have ever encountered. Oh well, it appears to have protected the frame and suspension components well!

Mickey - that's what we did too. This one is slightly different, but we took photos of the original faint remnants on the block and then duplicated it as close to the original as possible.

Does this have the short bubble hood?

You know, I've never seen a short bubble and a long bubble hood side by side to know which one mine is.

I'll post a picture when I have a chance.
 
Short bubble hood? Should be with such a low number. Mine has the short bubble @ CT5586.
 
Yes my tr4 has(had) "TR" on the block. 1962.
